Special Programs Offered
Therapeutic Listening Program, Oromotor and Hygiene Program, Parent Coaching, Augmentative Alternative Communication Treatment, and Family-Based Routines Interventions.
SOS Feeding Program
A systematic program of evaluating feeding skills and developing a treatment program that expands the food repertoire to insure a balanced diet and facilitates the skills of biting, chewing, transferring food from side to side, and swallowing. This addresses issues of over-stuffing, pocketing food, "pickiness", weak chewing patterns.
Oromotor and Hygiene Program
Increasing the child's awareness of his mouth helps the child be able to move the mouth for eating and talking. Using a combination of oral stimulation (pinching, stretching and massaging) and everything we do to keep our mouths clean (brushing teeth, flossing and using mouth wash) work together to not only insure hygiene, but creates a little mouth much better prepared for therapy activities involving eating and speech.
Parent Coaching
In all areas of treatment there is much to understand. The nature of the challenge (having a child in Speech Therapy) is to understand what your child needs to learn next and how to teach it. Ideally this extends to the child's siblings, extended family and friends, teachers, and other therapists. All parents must know their child's goals, why they make sense, and what new strategies should be used for the coming week.
